Who We Are
Neal Alpiner, M.D. FAAP, FAAPMR, CLCP
President
Dr. Alpiner is Double Board Certified in Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a Certified Life Care Planner. Dr. Alpiner has received the Golden Tassel Award for Outstanding Attending Physician at William Beaumont Hospital in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also the recipient of the Patient's Choice Award, On-Time Physician Award, and was voted a Metropolitan Detroit "SuperDoc," as well as being voted a Metro Parent "Mom Approved" Doc. Dr. Alpiner is the author of two books, "The Parent Principle," and "The Lunchroom Jungle."
As a PM&R Specialist, Dr. Alpiner aims to enhance and restore the function and quality of life of his patients. His role as an Exercise Medicine Specialist is to optimize recovery through exercise, pain management and therapeutic strategies. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Alpiner received his Bachelor's Arts Degree from the University of Michigan and his Medical Degree from Wayne State School of Medicine. His Post Graduate training was completed at the Detroit Medical Center where he received dual degrees, in Pediatrics from Children's Hospital of Michigan, and in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Rehabilitation of Michigan. His Post Graduate work was highlighted by receiving the Lender F. Bender Award for exceptional accomplishment during training.
As a Neuroscientist, Dr. Alpiner has devoted his career to identifying how the brain and body adapt and react to stressors. Dr. Alpiner develops treatment options for patients so they can regain motor, cognitive and sensory success.
Kimberly Reen, BSN, BS, RN, CLCP, LCP-C, CNLCP, MCP-C
Vice President
Kimberly holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Nursing. She has been a Registered Nurse for 19 years with a specialization in Neonatal Intensive Care. She is the founder and owner of Reen Consulting, LLC, and she specializes in determining the future cost of care in catastrophic and non-catastrophic cases. Kimberly has extensive knowledge of Life Care Plans and Medical Cost Projections and has been employed in these areas for nine years. Her Life Care Planning experience is in traumatic brain injury, anoxic brain injury, burns, amputations, spinal cord injury, and chronic pain of all ages. She has a particular interest in Pediatric Life Care Planning as early as newborn. She provides her knowledge as a consultant and an expert witness. She has authored a peer-reviewed article, presented at the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCP) annual conference both on-site and virtually, and provides mentorship within the Life Care Planning community. She is a member of the AANLCP, active in the Research Committee, and currently sits on the AANLCP Executive Board as Treasurer. When she is not working, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband and two children in the pool in Lexington, South Carolina where they live.
Megha Rownd, MSN, BSN, RN, CNLCP, LCP-C, MCP-C
Secretary
Megha Rownd received her undergraduate Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and graduate Master's of Science in Nursing, Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse degrees from the University of South Carolina. She has been a nurse for 20 years, with experience in Pediatrics, as well as many years with Adults, acute and chronic illnesses. Megha has been a Nurse Case Manager as well as a Nurse Life Care Planner since 2022. She is the Owner and Chief Planner at Palmetto Care Planning, LLC located in South Carolina. She is on the Editorial Board for the AANLCP Journal of Nurse Life Care Planning. Megha is married and has 2 boys who are 10 and 13. When she is not working, you will likely find her at a sporting event for one of her boys, gardening, or enjoying time with her family in Chapin, South Carolina where they live.
Rebecca Bailey, RN, BA, CNLCP, CLCP, LCP-C
Treasurer
Rebecca Bailey is the Owner and Chief Planner for Southeastern Life Care Planning, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She has over a decade of experience as a Registered Nurse working with Adult and Pediatric Populations. As an RN, she has spent her time at one of the state's Level-1 Trauma Centers, Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. There she worked as an Emergency Department Nurse, ED Nurse Case Manager, and Utilization Management Nurse. Since 2020, Rebecca has been working as a Nurse Life Care Planner while continuing to provide Nurse Case Management. She is an active member of the IARP Costing Framework Development Committee and the AANLCP Research Committee. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three children outside playing soccer, riding bikes, hunting and cooking.
Emily Dillard, BS
Member at Large
Emily is the founder and owner of ESD Consulting, LLC where she develops Life Care Plans, Medical Cost Projections, and Medical Cost-Only Projections. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's of Science in Commerce and Business Administration majoring in Health Care Management. She worked for FIG Services. Inc. as a marketer for the 120-hour Life Care Planning Certification course and went on to edit the course and advise students. Emily co-founded Eagle Strategies Group, Inc., a full service federal government relations firm in Washington, D.C. Emily has an extensive history in legislation as a healthcare advisor, healthcare policy legislative aide, and healthcare professional advocate. She has extensive knowledge in Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid Policy, and Medicaid End-Stage Renal Disease.
